	Gravity Sewer A section of sewer where wastewater flows from a higher elevation to a lower elevation due to the force of gravity. Wherever possible, wastewater collection systems are designed to use gravity to convey wastewater to GBMSD for treatment.
	Lift Station Lift stations are used in a sewer system to lift (pump) wastewater to a higher elevation when the route followed by a gravity sewer becomes too deep. Lift stations vary in size and type based on the volume of wastewater pumped and the height the wastewater must be lifted.
	Forcemain This is a sewer that transports wastewater under pressure from a lift station to a gravity sewer.
	Meter / Sampling Station Here the wastewater is metered and sampled to calculate flows and strengths so the contributing communities are billed correctly.
