Domestic wastewater arrives at the facility near the bottom the Pump Station through a large (108") pipe called an interceptor.
The Pump Station is very important at GBMSD. This is where the domestic wastewater first enters the treatment plant we are now able to remove any objects that are bigger than two and one-eigth inch in size, through one of two course bar screens, which helps protect the equipment throughout the treatment plant.
The GBMSD Pump Station also contains large pumps, which lifts the wastewater to above ground level to the next step in the treatment process.
Pumps within the Pump Station also handle wastewater from two nearby paper mills; it arrives via a separate interceptor (42 " pipe).
From here the "Mill Waste" is pumped to the next step in the process and is then combined with the domestic wastewater. |
