A. The municipality in which you reside sends you a sewer bill. GBMSD is a wholesaler of wastewater treatment services and only sends one bill to the municipality it serves.
A. On average, we treat about 38 million gallons per day (MGD), 30 mgd at the Green Bay facility and 8 MGD at the De Pere facility.
A. On a regular basis, the Green Bay facility can treat 49 MGD, however, on a short term, we can treat up to 160 MGD. At the De Pere facility, we can treat 14.2 MGD.
A. No, with an average flow at the Green Bay facility of 21,000 gallons per minute, it doesn't have a chance to freeze.
A. No. Most all of our equipment is located in over three miles of tunnels below ground, because we live in a changing climate.
A. Yes, our Pump Station at our Green Bay facility is 15 stories tall total, five of the stories are above ground and ten stories are below ground.
A. No, that's an issue for drinking water. We treat water after you've used it.
A. No. While our final effluent is safe to recycle back to the environment, it is not treated to meet drinking water standards.
A. With an average flow of 30 MGD at our Green Bay facility, it takes 21 hours from when it enters the facility until it is discharged.
A. We currently have 90 full-time employees for two wastewater treatment facilities, though we do hire seasonal employees primarily during the summer.
